I made some bases for a finger brake and slip roll that I recently purchased. I will eventually get to making doors for the front, but wanted to wait until I get the brake functional and for my bead roller to arrive to give it a lil style. They are functional and stiff though, and that was my main intent at least for now.Attachment 871191Attachment 871201Attachment 871211Attachment 871221Attachment 871231

Reply:Looks good, might want to consider putting some heavier stuff down low, especially on the brake. They really like to move around when bending heavier stuff.
Reply:I was thinking about some type of rubber footed brakes on the rear casters for the brake. As the sheet is bent past the 90 degree mark one is actually pushing on the unit itself to the rear and it will move if not anchored. There are many type of friction brakes available that could be quickly set and released with foot pressure.Great job on the stands by the way.SlobPurveyor of intimate unparalleled knowledge of nothing about everything.Oh yeah, also an unabashed internet "Troll" too.....
Reply:'' I was thinking about some type of rubber footed brakes on the rear casters for the brake''A piece of chain will keep it from rolling/moving too . Nice job !     It's so much fun playing with new toys ! AND it's not even CHRISTMAS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Reply:Yeah, I am thinking that a friction pad/floor brake will be the next thing to add to the both of them. I wanted to get the 1000 lb casters so that I would not look back once complete and those things can get pricey with wheel/stem locks built into them. So I went with the $13 1000lb casters from Northern Tool, and figured that I would add the braking mech after the fact. I was braking a shavings/coolant pan out of 18 gauge for my bandsaw stand a couple of weeks ago and had to do a frame grab in order to geep it from rolling. I have tools, dies and other stuff loading down both bases at this point too. So yeah.. it's an issue that needs to be dealt with sooner than later. Thanks,Niche
Reply:Finally got around to sourcing some paint which should have been a close match (Rustoleum Hammered Verde Green), but not really. Either way, it is just a piece of shop equipment, so I'm ok with it. I still need to add some floor jacks at a later point, but that may still be a bit, and will be bolt-on too..Attachment 899511Attachment 899521I have since made a couple of small projects. I made up a little piece of fairing that goes between the bumper and tailgate of a 71 Bronco my friend is restoring. This was the first time that I have TIG welded in 17 years, so I am not showing off my welds on this one. Good penetration, no holes burned, sample passed the hammer test, so a good day.Attachment 899531Attachment 899541

Reply:My daughter has been using a ladder to get on the zip-line that I installed her this summer. I finally made her a stand and almost done some of my honey-do projects.Top and front are a piece of 18 gauge with a broken lip. Sides and back are 2"x1/8" flat strip. I tigged the platform up, then 6011'd the ladder. My TIG technique needs some serious work for sure as you can see I piled in the filler to keep the puddle from thinning out on me, but no holes and good penetration. Either way, I have never been anywhere as nice as some of these guys on here as I need a LOT of practice after so long to get even where I once stood (which wasn't very much to begin with ). No installed pics (tiger stripe camo), but a few from the working part:Attachment 899601Attachment 899611Attachment 899621Attachment 899631Attachment 899641
