i am welding stiffeners/ gussets on the base of a monopole cell tower and im using innershild NR-232 .068. im finding it a lil more dificult than what im used too. i used to running 211 wire that is obviously a very forgiving and easy to use electrode. im welding thicker material now and such the need to change. looking for any tips or suggestions
Reply:I tried it a few times last summer. It's tough wire to learn, very demanding.City of L.A. Reply:Well, 233 meets all the specs. 232 does, 233 is noticeably easier to weld with and more foregiving.    233 comes in a .0625 and .072 etc.   Dropping down that five thousands doesn't sound like much, but it also is noticeably easier.     Youll also find that 233 doesn't feed through the gun as nice, so you may want to put extra effort in keeping your liner straighter.    If your using  K-126 gun, lincoln makes a couple goosenecks specifically for that wire, because that is where 233 usually has a problem.     On verticle up welds, don't angle your wire slightly up like you would your rod when stick welding.   Angle it at 90 degree or slightly downward.   Also pay attention to the reccomended stickout, because thats critical.    It seems to me that 232 likes to be fed into the puddle, so I pay attention to keep it in the front of the puddle but well w/in the puddle.
