Made 20 surveillance camera mounts, not much welding, just a few small mig welds on the gussets. Was going to cut and weld two halves at 90 degrees but decided to bend them on a hydraulic press(quicker). Cut out a template with the plasma cutter, then plasma cut each pc using the steel template as a guide. Customer supplied a paper template for the circular bolt holes, made one and used it to drill the rest by stacking and tac welding 5 together at a time. 11 gage steel plate, 0.375 solid round stock, jingle can paint, less than $50.00 in materials. The rectangular part bolts to wall or rack, round part holds camera and faces down.    Finally ran a paying job that went as planned from cad model to finished product with no setbacks. Also, I didn't under bid myself, customer is happy and paid in full on time too!!! Check out the pics..... Attached Images

Reply:2nd post, 1st picture: 4 of them are backwards but I don't know which one. GravelThe difference between theory and practice is that in theory there is no difference.
Reply:How big are they? I am trying to envision how a camera sits on the top without butting into the building, unless the cameras are small. Some of my better cameras are 12" long and I have a HD camera 14" long that I have not installed yet.Miller Challenger 172Miller Thunderbolt AC/DC 225/150Miller Maxstar 150 STLVictor 100CVictor JourneymanOxweld OAHarris O/ASmith O/A little torchNo, that's not my car.
Reply:ZZ,Of the 3 mounting holes on the rectangular piece 2 of them have their straight on easy access blocked by the gusset rod.  A suggestion for next time might be to move the mounting holes off the centerline and put them in the corners of the rectangular piece.   That will make it easier for the person who gets tasked with mounting them to drive the fasteners thru them with a power tool.   Just a thought.
Reply:Good look.

Reply:Has anyone seen the bubble cameras? They can mount them up in a large room like a lobby in a three story tall court house lobby. The tiny camera just sits in the center of the ceiling usually able to see every bit of the room. It is made to look like a smoke detector. It is up their recording a lot of information and sound. Later on you can play back the video and sound, and using the software, move the virtual camera, down to a height of six feet. It is like you are standing next to two people talking, You see their lips move, facial expressions change, I had no idea it was a computer recreation. Until the guy showed me the software and what you can do with it. I could hear the people we picked to listen in on, as if I was standing next to them. It scared me a bit, and not much scares me. I was in a high tech alarm supply company as they demonstrated the new product line. Big brother is everywhere.                       Sincerely,                            William McCormick

Reply:@ bigb  I think they use dome cameras like the pic below. The round part on the mounts measures about 7 inches in diameter.@HT2 I talked with the customer on the brace blocking the middle bolt hole and he said don't worry about it. The 2 upper and lower holes will work fine. Most of the cameras are being mounted on racks/adjustable shelving like the ones in home depot, so the bolts can come from the back, easy to tighten nuts. With 11 gage steel being used, they really didn't need the gussets but the customer thought that forklifts driving by may shake the cameras causing a blurry image, and as we all know the customer is all ways right !!!
