First job doing cast iron repair using the Nickel 99 repair electrode.  Didn't know which polarity to use at first, but seemed like DCEN gave much better results.  I didn't feel like fussing with preheat, as this was a woodstove door with the glass still in place, and no easy way to remove it.  So I just welded a pass (1") and found something else to do while it cooled.  It was a bunch of passes, maybe 20 or so, but I don't mind getting paid to learn new stuff.    The other one is a sculpture I made out of some leftover 3/8" CorTen (A588) and some old damp 7018.  The shape is called a rhombic dodecahedron.  I made a regular dodecahedron a while back, only about 6" tall, but I didn't want to try and fit up pentagonal pieces on something this large, so I decided on the rhombic version.  Lots of grinding, but only had two spots of porosity in all 30+ feet of weld.  It stands about three feet tall, and I am working on a swivel base for it, so you can spin it. Reply:That is a cool sculpture.
