Here are some pics of my coupons from class I am a week behind everyone else (ups shipping my jacket) So I am on week two now. I am currently running a Miller 350 XMT CC and horizontal/vertical with some angle iron fill in. Some passes are not mine they are the instructor helping me getting the proper arc length, bead, angle and strike only 4 are not mine. Any advice would be great and this is leading up to 1" unlimited pass and overhead also could use a welder too practice in between classes if it would help any.Attachment 860391 First time looks like sh*tAttachment 860401By the end of class day one horizontal.Attachment 860411some vertical.Week two Vertical and angle fill in.Attachment 860421Attachment 860431

Reply:They don't look all that bad. A wire wheel on a 4-inch grinder would help between passes for clean up. What type of 6010 are you running?Dont pay any attention to meIm just a hobbyist!CarlDynasty 300V350-Pro w/pulseSG Spool gun1937 IdealArc-300PowerArc 200ST3 SA-200sVantage 400

Reply:Is that's lincoln rod red ( 5p) or grey 5p +. A good machine does help. Post up some more pics so we can see where your at.
Reply:I've never run a Miller 350 XMT. I understand it's about the same thing as my V350-Pro. I have 4 inverter welding machines. My Dynasty 300 just plain sucks with 6010, and almost acceptable with 7018. My Everlast machines like ESAB's 10P-Pluse and Lincoln's 5P-Pluse 6010. The V350-Pro will run just about anything. My SA-200s could care less what rod they burn. Only running 6 or 7 inverter welders in my life, I'm convinced they like one brand of rod over the other. I'd try some Lincoln 5P-Pluse. Here is what my Everlast PowerArc 300 can do with 5/32 5P-Pluse. Reply:I like to run 3 or 4 5P 3/16 rod with my SA-200 to worm it up.
