Here are a few pictures of my very first mig weld with .030 wire. How does it look? Am I running too slow? or too cold? The first one is inside corner. The second one is just a bead on horiz. surface. The third one is the same except with wire speed reduced and voltage reduced. The last one is out side corner. I was surprise how fast I had to move the on out side corner joint. Thanks
Reply:Cold.Post what welder type, voltage, thickness of material, gas flow rate, etc... If you want sounder advice on improvement.TA Arcmaster 300CM3XMT 304S22P12 suitcase feederX-Treme 12VSOptima pulserTA161SMaxstar 150STLHypertherm PM45OP setupStihl 020AVP, 039, 066 Magnum
Reply:Looks to me like you are running slow and too cold.
Reply:Thanks. That's my assessment as well. I'm running old Lincoln SP100 with on 110 input with .030 wire on 1/8" steel plate. Voltage setting is at max with wire feed on 260ipm
Reply:You will want to crank any 110 machine just about to max power on 1/8 and bigger.Dont know if its just the pictures, but did you clean the metal any?Looks good other then that.
Reply:Your honestly pushing that little machine to its max welding 1/8" it looks like especially if the welds are that cold on max settings and it being a 110 .Try to get some thinner metal then give it a shot with a little more speed and watch your work and travel angle. You should be fine you look like you have the gist of everything |
