Just browsing around CL to see what is there, and I have been waiting for a shear to come up that is a good deal to play around with. Don't know a whole lot about them but would like to have another toy to play with and learn to use. What do you think of this?http://chicago.craigslist.org/chc/tls/3046680625.htmlCall the guy and he said he bought it about 4 years ago he thinks from harbor freight. Said it's about 400 pounds. Also said it has a roller on the top? Assuming it's for beading sheetmetal and rolling beads into pipes and such.Thoughts?Torchmate 2x2 CNC with Flashcut CNC controlsHypertherm Powermax45 Esab ET220i Razorweld 195 MigRazorweld 200ac/dc TigTormach 770, Tormach xstechRazorweld, Vipercut/Vipermig, SSC Foot Pedal Dealer
Reply:Try one first, typically they are seen on CL frequently because no one uses them after a while. Kind of a jack of all trades, master of none type thing. They are only good up to 18 ga if I recall and they are very difficult to shear steel in the full 30" width. Take some samples to try. I have found that having anythign under a 48" sheet metal shear is a waste as you need to first trim with another process.
