I have a brand new Stak Pak II power module and a control module, never been out of the box. Any guesses on whether it would be worth it to get a torch and use it. I have read a good bit about how bad the reliability was, but I wouldn't use it much. Seems like if I could get a torch for ~$100 I would have a plasma that would cut up to maybe 3/8 or so.Experience is something you get right after you need it
Reply:I would put it up for sale. Stack-pak torches have to have shielded trigger wires.If a unshielded torch is used, The power module logic pcb will fail. last I checked Thermal Dynamics does have any more logic pcbs for the stack-pak. They did have torches but they were pricy.

Reply:I would stay away at any price as well. The Stak Pak was one of the early inverter plasma's.....that really made a bad name for inverters in its day. Reply:I hoped I could find a torch for less than $100 and run it til it pukes, probably would just throw the whole works away when it dies. Looked @ E-bay, there are some scholars on there the seem to believe their single module unit is worth several hundred $$. Maybe I will put mine on there for parts and get a hundred or something.Experience is something you get right after you need it |
