I have a 2001 Dodge cummins and this truck is on it's 4th inj. pump in 240k miles. Could the leads be causing a magnetec feild or something like that. I have the leads wraped old school stye on the side of the truck. They are not wraped together they are seperate spools. I have tryed everything all grounds have been cleaned. I dont weld on truck. And I run Amsoil fuel lubricant in the tank every fill up. Can anybody thing of anything else?1990 SA 200Miller 225 Rip Miller302Miller 135Lincoln 200 MigHypertherm 600 PlasmaPlasma Cam Cutting TableMikita Cold SawJL Welding Tx . com

Reply:mmm... is that a 12 valve with the bosch injector pump?? I dont remember what year they switched to the 24. Anyhow, those mechanical pumps in the older diesels shouldnt be failing that often you would think. It might help some if you could describe exactly how it is failing?? And just to specify you are saying the pump is malfunctioning and not the injector? ( are you on your fourth pump or fourth injector?)Are you running stock injectors? Have you turned up the pump? Do you tow etc...2011 Dodge 3500 diesel duallyLincoln SA-200Lincoln SAE-300LN-25'sLincoln Idealarc R3RMiller Trailblazer 302
Reply:Your lift pump is failing. You need to replace that, or add in another electric pump. Pretty common actually. I think if the fuel pressure (from the lift pump) drops much below 10psi, the injection pump isn't getting enough fuel to cool the pump, which causes it to swell from the heat & bind up.Do a search on Diesel Power, it explains it quite well. And yes there are kits out there for it.MarkI haven't always been a nurse........Craftsman 12"x36" LatheEnco G-30B MillHobart Handler 175Lincoln WeldandPower 225 AC/DC G-7 CV/CCAdd a Foot Pedal to a Harbor Freight Chicago Electric 165A DC TIG PapaLion's Gate Build
