So I have my eye on a Heliwelder IV but I can find ZERO information on it. I know some Airco's were basically just rebadged Millers, and then they became rebadged ESAB's but I cannot find a similar machine in either of those two companies line up's. Here's a link to one.http://youngstown.craigslist.org/tls/2989430200.htmlI looks 'similar' to a Miller Air Crafter 330 but not identical like most airco/miller machines. My real question is, can i still get parts for this or even find a manual somewhere? I'm sure its like most old welders built in the hayday of American manufacturing and built like a Abrams tank and will likely live longer than me, but better safe than sorry. Thanks in advance anybody.ESAB MigMaster 275Miller Econotwin HFMiller Syncrowave 250

Reply:I'm confused what that link shows me. There's zero information about this welder, its history, who made it, where i may get parts from or a manual, am i missing something there? I wasn't specifically asking for a manual for the machine (not that one is contained on that site anyway) I was asking if anybody knew anything about them, who the original manufacturer might be or if I can still purchase parts for it.I've googled Airco Heliwelder IV to no end and haven't come up with anything solid on it, so i figured i'd ask here since this website is for the welding industry.ESAB MigMaster 275Miller Econotwin HFMiller Syncrowave 250

Reply:Those machines are beasts.  Single phase power monsters that work well and are practically indestructible.  High frequency caps are known to go bad, but parts can still be bought.  You can rebuild them for much cheaper.  The spark gaps are still available as they were used in many later model welders (dial arc, hf arc starters etc).  I have a manual somewhere in pdf form.  Pm me your email and I can forward to you.  They recommend 100 amp dedicated circuit.  I successful ran mine on a 50amp service and just did not max out on amperage. Reply:I learned tig welding on an old Linde Heli-Arc welder back in the 60's.As well as I remember, Linde had a relationship with Union Carbide which later sold the manufacturing rights to ESAB.To the best of my knowledge, Miller never had any association with the companies that had the "naming rights" to Heli-Arc.Syncro 250 DX Dynasty 200 DXMM 251 w/30A SG XMT 304 w/714 Feeder & Optima PulserHH187Dialarc 250 AC/DCHypertherm PM 1250Smith, Harris, Victor O/ASmith and Thermco Gas MixersAccess to a full fab shop with CNC Plasma, Water Jet, etc.

Reply:My Airco 300 was called a Heliwelder as you can see in pics http://weldingweb.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=54853  I also read somewhere that Airco actually built the 330A/BP rather than the other way around (no idea if this is true or not).  Can't say as I have ever seen one like the OP posted thoughTiger Sales:  AHP Distributor    www.tigersalesco.comAHP200x; AHP 160ST; MM350P,  Spoolmatic 30A; Everlast PowerTig 185; Thermal Dynamics 60i plasma.  For Sale:  Cobra Mig 250 w/ Push-pull gun.  Lincoln Wirematic 250
