So heres a pic it stands about 5" tall and will stand on its own. Havent put it on etsy yet, have to order some more materials before i post it. What do you think of it?Sent from my iPhone using TapatalkUsing Tapatalk

Reply:Clever stuff, Zach. Good luck with your ETSY store.
Reply:You're heading in the right direction. Keep it up! I like the new ideas.GravelThe difference between theory and practice is that in theory there is no difference.
Reply:Cool snowman. Agree on painting it too. If you want a neater job, maybe consider drilling two 1/4'' holes for the 1/4'' rods and tack on the inside of the nut. You might even be able to keep some of the other welds inside too. You gonna do reindeer too ? https://www.google.com/search?q=weld...D&ved=0CB0QsAQ

Reply:Love your flower!!! Too cute!!!--"Any suggestions on spray paining in the winter or the cold?" Our temps have already been dipping into the lower teens.... I tried priming a little piece of plate that a tool mounts on outside and didn't do so well. The primer froze and looked like fractured frost on a window. The only work around I've found so far is placing the piece down inside a box then spraying it from there and bringing the whole box inside where it's warm to dry after the majority of the fumes have dissipated.--Best wishes to you.MM 211Smith Tru Lite O/A set, Thanks Bob!Lincoln AC-225--But you must not change one thing, one pebble, one grain of sand, until you know what good and evil will follow on that act. Reply:Just ordered some more materials for the new products!Anyone ever been on this site called Nutty.com?If you ever need a decent amount of hardware or fasteners, go there. Its decent prices and ships quick. Ive gotten all my hardware for all these projects. And this is the only place i found with reasonable shipping rates.Already got an order of at least 2 of the snowmen from my grandma. She has bought a few flowers for her friends also. So now im just waiting for the hardware to come in the mail... Then i'll get some made up and theres also one other type of snowman im gonna be making. Gotta wait till i get some washers before i can post a pic, cause i made one and seem to have misplaced it somewhere...Sent from my iPhone using TapatalkUsing Tapatalk

Reply:Ohhhh.... thanks for the www.nutty.com recommendation. I've been looking to buy bulk washers to try my hand at a bowl/platter just for the fun of it and that looks like a great place price-wise. Speaking of the bowl.... I'm going to post a photo of it for you in the event you might be able to make an ' iZach98' version of it to offer for sale at your etsy place. I'm pretty sure that's rebar used for the rim and if you enlarge the photo.... it appears large ball bearings were used for the feet although another piece of rebar could be used. The photo isn't mine.... I found it online.-- MM 211Smith Tru Lite O/A set, Thanks Bob!Lincoln AC-225--But you must not change one thing, one pebble, one grain of sand, until you know what good and evil will follow on that act. Reply:I thought youd like that
. the bowl photographed was selling for $75. Just make sure you dont pay a lot for your washers. I found a few online suppliers that appear to be affordable (.02¢ - .05¢ per washer < 1" OD) and perhaps others will be in a position to share where they purchase small washers in bulk, http://www.aircraft-spruce.com/catal...latwashers.php, https://www.phoenixfastener.com/view...dex=361&cid=19 --Heres a list of washer manufacturers that might be worth calling, http://www.thomasnet.com/products/fl...2400555-1.html Heres a nice chart providing quantity and weight, http://www.stanlok.com/Washers_Pages/uss_flat.html Heres a nice website that provides a pdf on sizes, https://www.boltdepot.com/USS_flat_w...zed_steel.aspx--Very much looking forward to a photo as well as information on making a bowl when you try it.MM 211Smith Tru Lite O/A set, Thanks Bob!Lincoln AC-225--But you must not change one thing, one pebble, one grain of sand, until you know what good and evil will follow on that act. Reply:So i got my order yesterday, and i soaked the washers and nuts in vinegar overnight, i do this to get the galvanized coating off so its safe to weld. So today i took them out and dried them off. Man does that vinegar really work. Its makes it just plain steel there is no galvanized coating what so ever left on it. So i got to welding a few up. Ive got one completely done just to take pics and will have probably another 3 to 4 done by tomorrow maybe more.So here are some pics of the snowman made of nuts i have drilled a 1/4" hole where the arms stick out and i have welded them from the inside of the nut, i think it looks better. Also i hid the welds of the 2 washers that make up the hat, the weld that joins the lower nut to the washer. That weld is hidden on the inside where it is hidden unless you were to cut the hat off. This does not have a clear coat on it, since its not outside it will not rust as quickly. Eventually it will rust. And the other snowman made of washers. I will add pics of it in the next post, because the limit of pics per post is 5 pics so more pics next post. But anyways i will add these items to my etsy shop and add some pics to my FB page. Let me know what ya think of these two items. Reply:Those would make darling ornaments for a Christmas tree. I'm looking at those and thinking they'd also make fun keychains if you swapped the yarn out for a metal key ring.MM 211Smith Tru Lite O/A set, Thanks Bob!Lincoln AC-225--But you must not change one thing, one pebble, one grain of sand, until you know what good and evil will follow on that act.
