SA 300 For Sale near me

There's a guy near me that has a SA-300 for sale. He seems to think its a 70's model or newer. He also said it has copper windings in it. I will include some pics he sent. He is asking $800 as is. It runs and welds great, it does have good leads. Reply:Buy it, or PM me if you don't. Leads are a plus considering copper prices. If you have lots of leads already you could skin what you don't want, scrap, and get a "rebate".  He sent me those pics also when I responded to the Craigslist post, but you got there before my friend who I requested them for so you have dibs. (I avoid getting in anyone's way and don't push up bids on equipment!) I'd buy it myself for that price but need to finish my shop before hunting more welders (well, the sort I can't barter for).

If your interested in it please go ahead, im not sure I can come up with a excuse to my wife why I need this for my business. Reply:I have a 1978 SAE 300.  I bought mine for $875.  The added bonus for mine was that is was a "union welder."  -- so it was lightly used on union jobs.  My personal opinon is that it is a slightly better welder than a SA 200 because of the dual continuous control.  I also have a SA 200 which drinks 2/3rds the gas of the 300.  The 300 may be better suited for a trailer as it is longer and heavier than a 200.  My 2 cents.
Reply:My friend decided to pass (not due to the welder, he's just too busy right now and has an SA200) so it's up for grabs.Serial number puts it around 1969. I deleted the email so I don't have the number, but looked it up on the Lincoln chart.
Reply:Trade him the horse... horses are a dime a dozen and eat, bite, and poop, a good welder is hard to findReally, the wifes feelings are much more important than any equipment... here's a li'l story. i wanted an 870 20 gauge with vent rib, I needed that gun for quail, U can see that surely.  I had three young kids and a healthy mortgage at the time.. but I felt it was an ok purchase. So... I got the gun, and gave it to my wife as a Christmas present...along with another box, which she was sure was shells,  a vest etc... "Now we can go shoot together, I smiled"... "thanks" she replied. About 30 minutes later I got her to open the box... which had a Navajo pawn Squash Blossum necklace in there heavy as a rock... and some shells. "Think U can shoot in that, I asked"?  It got all better then...
