Anyone have any sources for good quality welding screens? I've searched on the inters-web and found lots of choices but just asking to see if anyone can recommend something decent for a decent price. I need a couple 6x6 for my garage - I assume this these things are not going to go up in smoke if weld sparks touch them. Thanks
Reply:I made 2 of them from fire blankets and bent the frames up out of 1/2" emt. It was fast to make and only cost me about $100 each. If you do it get the stiffer type fire blanket. I think mine are 6x8 but you can get them in 6x6 also.Actually now that I am thinking of it I believe they cost less than $85 each when I was done. That was shoping for the best deal I could find on the fire blankets. I think I wound up getting them on Ebay. They were Tillman brand.Last edited by thegary; 02-09-2016 at 02:26 PM.

Reply:So I guess about $100 for a 6x6 is average. I'm thinking the shaded screens. Anyone know if they stand up to sparks?
Reply:most will stand up to sparks but they will pit over time. And this depends on how close the sparks come from. |
