Okay, this is like my second weekend welding....Please don't judge too harshly, I have my bf, who is a much better welder than I, who, playfully, gives me crap about it....But for just starting out and had NEVER touched a welding machine in my life, I'm pretty proud of myself.p.s. I know, I move to fast....and that I need to slow down....WAY down. Attached Images*Sparkie's Girl*
Reply:What rod are you using? Machine settings? Keep at it! You can never have too much practice. I think it looks good for your first welds.
Reply:Good job! Practice is everything and eventually you will get the hang of it.In order to get the best advice you should post the consumables and settings you are using. Also, even though stick can burn through crud better than any other process, you are better off cleaning your metal before doing any welding. Angle grinder and a hard disc (cheaper than a flap disc) is your friend. Same goes for the spot where you attach your ground clamp. Needs to be clean.Mikel
Reply:Not bad for first time out - when trying to learm most have the fear of burninga hole in metal - i tell them to take a piece of metal and hold an arc till it doesburn thru - this will give you an idea of how fast you need to move -the more info you give us the more we can helpkeep at itThe main thing is not to panic or get excited Bobcat 250, X-Treme 12VS,  MM211Meltabo, Milwaukee,Porter Cable,Dewalt,MakitaVictor O/A, Ingersoll-RandEvolution Rage2, 40 amp PlasmaLincoln 225 AC/DC

Reply:Good for you for posting photos!!! I think you’re doing great!!! Waaaay better than I did the first few days I was welding so pat yourself on the back.MM 211Smith Tru Lite O/A set, Thanks Bob!Lincoln AC-225--But you must not change one thing, one pebble, one grain of sand, until you know what good and evil will follow on that act. Reply:These I believe are 6010(?) or 7013 rods I don't remember. I was more scared of getting burnt (and i did get burnt) than burning a hole through it. The heat settings were at like either 95°f or 110°f but this was like a month ago and I've slept and drank some adult beverages haha since then.
Reply:The machine is set by amps and not temperature, so you were set to 95 to 110 amps which is a good range for a 3/32" electrode. To get better results, you should use a 7018 electrode. 6010 is a deep penetrating rod that is normally used for root passes. It just does not make a very good looking bead.
