Hey guys i found what appears to be a good priced Econotig machinecart, machine, bottle, and some extra for 700$now my question is will this work for my uses.Ill be doing some Misc work on two stroke exhaust pipes (new stingers for the silencer) and some 4130 chromoly work on ATV frames later onsome mild steel work.maybe some misc aluminum for brackets or case repairs for the motors.(depends on skill level)we have 220v (single phase) service 60amp breaker so should be okay power wise.am i barking up the wrong tree with this machine?if you have some suggestions on any accessories that would make life easier starting out with a tig machine feel free to chime in.Thanks for looking,
Reply:I have a buddy that has one of those and he loves it. I think you will be fine for what your doing.

Reply:yea going to pick it up tomorrow, unfortunately im offshore and cant go but my father will check it out.figure its a minimal investment to get a quality American Tig machine in the shop. if i need a more powerful one later just gotta plunk down the cash.So my Next question is i dont think it has a tog torch so what should a beginner go looking for in a torch setup. Figure aircooled for now as it wont get a lot of use.

Reply:Offshorendt--I have had an Econo Tig for probably 20 years plus and I love the machine and I do work similar to what you describe.  My only minor beef is when doing aluminum the torch can get hot (it's not water cooled).  So it's a mater of pacing the work and allowing things to cool. The machine has never once given me any problems.  I am pretty happy with it.
Reply:Ditto. I have a used E-tig machine that has been a joy to use. It is lite on power-sucking-aluminum jobs, but I hate aluminum anyway! Reply:200mphbusa, were in spokane your not to far away, we have sand drag type quads.honda 2 strokes and they always throw chains through the cases or 2nd gear with our sub 100horse motors.so now im trying to find the proper setup to tackle case repairs. suggestions are very welcome here tungsten size, cup size, rod type. etc.

Reply:It is a decent machine except you can't do a lot without waiting for things to cool down because of it's air cooled torch.  It is great for thin boats and small jobs.
Reply:Well sorry for the late update, went to go pick it up and the guy lied about the conditionregulator was disconnected, wires ripped out of it never used the tig or tank ever doesn't know if it worked no power to hookup n test. walked away from itOn the lookout for a new unit.
