I'm a new welder and have an older (1979) Lincoln R3S-325 arc power source with an LN-7 squirt feeder...What does the pinch control affect in terms of MIG welding with mild steel?
Reply:The name refers to pinching off the arc. New machines call it inductance. If you have some one turn it while you are welding. You will see the shape and width of the arc change. The puddle will go from stiff to more fluid. Most people leave it on 5.They told us in school, this was designed set point for most welding.
Reply:Cool! City of L.A. Structural; Manual & Semi-Automatic;"Surely there is a mine for silver, and a place where gold is refined. Iron is taken from the earth, and copper is smelted from ore."Job 28:1,2Lincoln, Miller, Victor & ISV BibleDanny
Reply:That makes sense now, I found the sweet spot for mild steel (1/8in) to be right at 5 with the voltage waay down of course...but thanks for explaining it! |
