Hi everybody, I'm an apprentice in fabrication and welding. i am looking for help on reading drawings. I can read basic simple fabrication drawings (1st and 3rd angle) but today at work, in came these drawings in which we will have to fabricate. It was very complex, it was like a shaft in the middle, then there were flat bars coming in at all places with a thick gauge plate attached to it and some drawing symbols which i don't have a clue on. There was like only around 3 fabricators out of 10 who could fully grasp the drawing and what was needed. So is there any resouces out there to help understand drawings? (e.g describing drawing lines and symbols)Thank you

Reply:I was going to suggest "How to Read Shop Drawings" from the James L Lincoln Foundation, but it looks like it's out of stock for a couple of weeks. Also, it's now $25 - my copy was ten bucks from them only a few weeks back. |
