Reply:operators manual  http://www.lincolnelectric.com/asset...oln3/im208.pdf  appears to be a 1971  should make it all copper wound, definately a desirable machine if it is all there or even better up and running.  In the future when you get to the Lincoln page, look on the very top bar in red, look for  " Ask The Experts""Si Vis Pacem Para Bellum"Lincoln Idealarc 250 AC/DCMillermatic 251   Syncrowave 300   30A spoolgunLincoln MP210Hypertherm 45(2) LN 25(2) Lincoln Weldanpower 225 CV(4) SA200   1 short hood    SA250    SAM 400
Reply:You might ask the Boss if the aluminum shunt coils were changed over to the copper shunt coils. Just that one little item could add several hundred dollars to the value of the machine. Thanks,HoboLincoln SA200's... at least 15 - 20. They come and go. Growing partial to the "Short Hoods" in my old age. Last count on Short Hoods was 13 in possession.

Reply:First I think the 71 should have all copper coils , no aluminum but I could be wrong. If the Generator housing is very round that is the case, If it seems to be a series of flats, what they call and Octagon barrel, it will have some aluminum. In any event if you aren't pipelin" for a living you won't see the difference. The SA 200 is an excellent machine, easy to work on and a good stick welder in any configuration. Without seeing it hard to tell you what it is worth. If it runs,300-500, If it runs and welds well 500 and up, but that is in my opinion, others will differ. Look to see if it has coolant, not water in the radiator, if you can see it you know it was protected and does not leak. check the oil before starting and after running, if it is milky after running, that is a sign of water/ moisture. Could be rain water, could be head gasket.Air cleaner in place?  Idle up or down when welding? Open oil filler when welding, look for pressure coming out, too much could be due to ring blow by or clogged Crancase breather. Will also puke moisture from the tube running down behind the carb, that is a vent. If your boss likes you and the machine has just been sitting, should get it 300-700. grand and more it better be real nice. That is here in the North east, if your in pipe country all bets off. Here they are not as desirable, West and South they are gold.
