My top is 2'x3'x1/2". It is sitting a a frame of 2 x 2 3/16" square tubing that is inset 2" from the top edge. At the moment I have it bolted at the corners with 3/8" bolts. The bolts will be countersunk as soon as I replace the dull countersink I have. It this enough or do i need bolts in-between those or should I just weld it on to the tubing? As I 'm sure you will be able to tell from the pics, this is my 1st ever welding project. I will build a wooden cabinet to sit in side of it.Tom F.Hobart Handler 190 mig gunWilton Vise Restoration

Reply:You will be glad to have a welding table. That one should serve you well. I'm jealous of your 1/2" top!The bolts should be fine and you eliminate the risk of the welding causing your top to warp. As long as you have it pulled flat and you are satisfied with it, just use the bolts. Counter-sinking would be be better. Did you tap the tube for the bolts? I did not see the nuts. As you know, welding takes practice, practice, and more practice. Lots of hood time will help you improve your welds.Welcome to the forum.
