Great party game!  My welds were sound but not so pretty.  I used a little bondo to make the finished project presentable.Check out video link to see one way to play.  The way I find the most fun for a party is 'cut-throat', meaning you pound every one elses nail and win by being the last one with a standing nail.   Attached Images

Reply:I wanted one for my self but decided to update design.  This anchors the legs a bit more firm and makes for easier welds. Attached Images

Reply:Much nicer cleaner design. I like this one even better than the last one. I just picked up a nice chunk of American sycamore someone in the neighborhood cut down. I was planning this winter to make legs for it for doing repousse work. I think I'll try and use this design instead even if it's more work..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Reply:Excuse me, but "Hammerschlagen" is the trademark of WRB, Inc.  They have an entire family of trademarks which my lawyer said are protected by the prior use statues in multiple states and the federal government that date back decades.  And, the Hammer-Schlagen brand lays claim to a trade dress:  the blacksmith's hammer, common nails, and a cross section of a tree.  If you are going to make such a stand, I strongly suggest not using it in commerce, and seeking approval from the Hammer-Schlagen company (which is headquartered in Minnesota) for use of the Hammer-Schlagen trade dress.How do I know this?  I saw the Hammer-Schlagen people at a beer festival in Ohio, and made a setup for use in my bar:  I basically copied exactly what the Hammer-Schlagen company was doing.  Somehow, they found out and called me.  The short is that I was impersonating the Hammer-Schlagen company (yeah, I know, guilty as charged, but what do you do).  I obtained a license from Hammer-Schalgen, and I now get prizes and stickers with their trademarks along with materials and supplies so that I can comply with their trade dress; they are remarkably easy to deal with.  They best part is that they will "lease" you a stand (which is part of the license agreement).

Reply:sandman; nice work.  i suggest if you're doing lots of pounding to extend the mounting brackets so they support the stump from the bottom also. it would take some of the strain off the bolts.i.u.o.e. # 15queens, ny and sunny fla
