Someone let me use one today at work and I decided to order one for myself. It will be very useful in my job (electrician) and hoping to find uses for it at home in the metal working as well. I ordered the 12 volt one, it's very light and easy to control with one hand. I don't expect it to be much good for heavy duty cutting, but it might come in handy for thin stuff and tight places. We had to remove a bunch of drywall at work to run new wiring which is normally a PITA, this guy just whips out his Hackzall and sticks in a blade that he snapped off real short so it only cuts to a depth of 1/2-5/8" and goes to town on the drywall.Miller Challenger 172Miller Thunderbolt AC/DC 225/150Miller Maxstar 150 STLVictor 100CVictor JourneymanOxweld OAHarris O/ASmith O/A little torchNo, that's not my car.

Reply:Looks like a short sawzall. I don't really see the benefit to this saw if you already own a sawzall and/or a jigsaw. But, what I just picked up and is a super nice little deal is a body saw. I LOVE this little thing! gets in tight corners, isn't abusive to the metal like a sawzall can be, and it eats threw sheet metal like cheese! I used it on my potable tank and was able to cut 4 7/16" bolts off my bed in the house before running out of air.
Reply:I have used mine a few times on little jobs, I bought it after a guy left a m12 impact in my truck - he was a helper on a red iron job and after I got home I found it in the bed.  Never could get in touch with him so decided to keep it.The hackzall and two batteries were only 15 bucks more than buying just a charger.   So far I have only used it on wood and plastic, mainly PVC where it rates right up there with pockets on a shirt.  BTW  the m12 impact is my new go to screw driver, it will sink 3 in deck screws faster than my 18v dewalt  and is phenomenal for removing trailer decking screws.I still keep the dewalt in the truck but it is now relegated to strictly drilling and starting the compressor. When any government, or any church for that matter, undertakes to say to its subjects, "This you may not read, this you must not see, this you are forbidden to know," the end result is tyranny and oppression, no matter how holy the motives.
Reply:VPT, the m12 hackzall fills in the void inbetween the jigsaw and sawzall. it has more power and larger blade capacity than a jigsaw, yet is more portable and fits in tighter places than a sawzall.SRO1911, you should checkout an 18v impact driver. drills are for drilling, impact drivers are for screwing. I have 12 m12 batteries, so I don't mind going through lots of batteries, but when you are pulling trailer decking 18v battery life might be worth the extra weight to you.Dynasty 200DXPassport plus w/ spoolmate 100victor 315c oxy/(act and prop)Miller digital elitemilwaukee power tools
Reply:I am up to 5 batteries now for the m12 - I will be getting a bigger impact when I get my next dewalt set.  I currently have a pile of 18v dewalts - but not the new impact.  I am going to keep running these until I tear up something crucial, then go to the 20v max stuff.  A friend of mine won the 5 piece 20v max set at work and I have played with it a bit - huge improvement over the 18v stuff. That little m12 though, I didn't think much about it when the guy pulled it out to start throwing down some tek screws - as I was rolling out my old trusty corded makita screw gun.  By the end of the first wall I was impressed, by the end of the job I had decided I was buying one as soon as I got home. - I doubt he is a member here but just in case = your driver is doing quite well, I have made an effort not to let it sit and get lonely - if you want it back shoot me an address and I will mail it to you. (even though I shouldn't - I warned everybody on sight that my truck WAS NOT was not a tool crib, and that if I rolled out that I would be 4 hours east before I slowed down)When any government, or any church for that matter, undertakes to say to its subjects, "This you may not read, this you must not see, this you are forbidden to know," the end result is tyranny and oppression, no matter how holy the motives.
Reply:I use my m12 impact driver putting 3" tapcons into concrete all day sometimes. it is pretty nice to not have a 5lb tool to carry all day.Dynasty 200DXPassport plus w/ spoolmate 100victor 315c oxy/(act and prop)Miller digital elitemilwaukee power tools

Reply:I keep wanting to upgrade my cordless kit but every time i get ready to jump ship on my dewalt 18V stuff the rumor mill convinces me that a better system is coming out next season.Vantage 500's LN-25's, VI-400's, cobramatics, Miller migs, synch 350 LX, Powcon inverters, XMT's, 250 Ton Acurrpress 12' brake, 1/4" 10' Atlantic shear,Koikie plasma table W/ esab plasmas. marvel & hyd-mech saws, pirrana & metal muncher punches.
