Looking to buy some welding leads for my SA200. Its been along time since I have bought leads and forgot what size (gauge) to buy. I know if I go to a welding supply store the prices of wire will be pretty big, is there another place to buy the same material.
Reply:Thanks for the response
Reply:2/0 might be the best but in most applications it is overkill. There are 2 things that we need to know for sure.1. How many feet (total) are you wanting to put on it2. Whats the biggest rods that you will run?
Reply:Looking at 50 foot leads and nothing bigger than 1/8th inch electrodes. In fact I use 6010 for the root passes and 7018 for the build up.
Reply:Here's a chart that covers length and amps.http://www.pacificcabling.com/Specia...rage_chart.htmRemember you use the total length of BOTH leads... IE. if you have 50 foot on a side, you have 100 feet of lead in the chart. Most of my leads are 2/0 simply because thats what I got a good deal on. 2/0 is HEAVY especially in the longer lengths, so I have the stinger on 25' of #2 and the ground on 15' of #2 and all the leads are equiped with Tweeco quick connects. 90% of the stuff I do I can get away with just the light leads and maybe one added 25' length on each at most. #2 would probably be all you would need looking at the chart for that length. If you wanted to go longer, I'd go with heavier cable and QD's and the #2 on shorter stringer and grounds..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear. Actually, a government bureau is the nearest thing to eternal life we'll ever see on this earth! Ronald Reagan
Reply:Thanks to all. The chart was very helpful....

Reply:On construction here, normally we use 2/0 cable for most stick welding, rental co.'s usually supply 2/0 as well. You can probably go smaller but if too small and cables are heating up, the rubber insulation will deteriorate faster and welding performance will suffer."The reason we are here is that we are not all there"SA 200Idealarc TM 300 300MM 200MM 25130a SpoolgunPrecision Tig 375Invertec V350 ProSC-32 CS 12 Wire FeederOxweld/Purox O/AArcAirHypertherm Powermax 85LN25
