Like the title says, I'm looking for an H-frame hydraulic shop press in the 20-30 ton range.  Will pay a fair price, and price will depend on maker, capacity, and condition.  If it's a quality press at a decent price (even if it needs repair), I'll travel further.Have exhausted CL, classifieds, and ebay within 150 miles of my zip code - missed one by 10 minutes earlier today.  If I have to travel beyond that, I'd prefer to deal with people I can trust, like you all. Thanks in advance for the suggestions to make my own, but no thanks.  Too many irons in the fire already.Cash buyer, have trailer, will travel.  You can send me a PM here, or email jinskeepATyahooDOTcom.  Thanks for your time.PS - When I find one, I'll add a note here to that effect.  Until then, I'm still looking.
Reply:Tackit, I already tried all that before I got on the internet.  But thanks.I can pick up a new HF one for about $200, but I'd rather get something in here that's used and higher quality, even if I have to spend substantially more and travel to get it.
Reply:tbone,You may want to check out Grizzly's 30 Ton Shop Press (item #H6228Z).  It's $219 plus $89 for shipping.  Quite a bit more substantial than the HF press. There's about 20" between the uprights.  It will accept the bending brake parts kit (standard or HD) from Swagoffroad.com with a slight modification to the brackets which hold the die in place.  (The uprights are more substantial, consequently the mounting tabs have to be moved.)I've had good luck with mine.Syncro 250 DX Dynasty 200 DXMM 251 w/30A SG XMT 304 w/714 Feeder & Optima PulserHH187Dialarc 250 AC/DCHypertherm PM 1250Smith, Harris, Victor O/ASmith and Thermco Gas MixersAccess to a full fab shop with CNC Plasma, Water Jet, etc.
Reply:Thanks Sundown, I'm just trying to exhaust my options on getting an older, non-Asian-made press before going for a new one.  I'd really like to find the style with divorced cylinder and pump.  I might even have space for a 50T if I can afford one.  We'll see what comes down the pike.

Reply:davec,You are correct.  The 30T press has been discontinued by Grizzly. It still showed on page 618 of their 2011 catalog, but when I went to their website, it indicated that the press had been discontinued.  I've had mine for a couple years now. They still list the 50T press, but it's considerably more.Syncro 250 DX Dynasty 200 DXMM 251 w/30A SG XMT 304 w/714 Feeder & Optima PulserHH187Dialarc 250 AC/DCHypertherm PM 1250Smith, Harris, Victor O/ASmith and Thermco Gas MixersAccess to a full fab shop with CNC Plasma, Water Jet, etc.

Reply:Sundown, The 50Ton press is till considerably less than the Arcan equipment at Northern.  I was skeptical about Arcan as it is made in China, but I bought the 3.5 ton floor jack from them a couple years back and was VERY impressed.  Very well built and smooth operating.  I was stunned, to say the least, as the best I was hoping for was "functional but not junk" and I got a really good tool instead.  And the price is stupid cheap.  So I looked at their stuff more and was very impressed with the presses I looked at too (none that I own). But the 50t Grizzly press is still way cheaper than the 50t Arcan.  It's more in line with the 20t Arcan $$.  I have good success with a couple Grizzly WW tools the past few years so am not afraid of them, either.  The Torin line from Northern is one that is pretty sketchy, IMHO.  I have seen some real junk there and some OK stuff too, but nothing that screams great tool like the Arcan jack I got.  We'll see what Grizzly does, but I suspect they are "upgrading" their line and will jack the prices a bunch on presses soon.  They were probably clearing out the 30t that you got as part of that...-DaveXMT304 with: 22A Feeder, or HF251 Hi Freq DC TIG air cooled
Reply:Check this one out, just got listed yesterday, doesn't say a brand name. It's probably a little over 2 hours from you though.http://york.craigslist.org/tls/2721276060.html
Reply:Mark, perfect!  Thanks a million - I was out of town yesterday and didn't do any CL searching at all.  I called the guy and he's going to hold it for me until I can get there tomorrow to have a look.  Thanks again.
Reply:UPDATE: I have found a press - not looking for one anymore.  The one Mark linked to is still available, and a good deal if anyone's interested.  The owner's name is Keith - really nice guy.  It was just a little smaller in frame size than what I was looking for.  Ended up finding an Enerpac 50T in Baltimore today - it leaks around the ram some, but all repair parts are available and I couldn't beat the price at $550.
