A friend of mine milks cows and his barn cleaner chain is worn out so bad that the links climb the drive sprocket and fall off. He got a used onebin nice shape except the flights are backward, set to run counter clockwise rather than clockwise. So I cut off the old flights and replaced them with angle. Here is what they look like before and after. So I cut the old off, ground off the junk and some rust off the other side of the link since the angles had to be welded on the other side from original. Then welded the angles on and the foot on the bottom.Did 25 today before I ran out of acetylene, about 20 more to do.Yeah, I know, but it'll be ok!Lincoln Square wave 255Miller Vintage mig30a spoolgunThermal Dynamics Pacmaster 100xl plasmaSmith mc torchEllis 1600 band saw
Reply:Was sure glad to have the Ellis saw today! Just stacked up the 4 angles and set the stop and cut all the pieces in about 10 minutes. But cutting the angle is where it realky shines, just set the angle by the gage in back and cut every cut perfect. Love it for this.Sure makes jobs go quick.Yeah, I know, but it'll be ok!Lincoln Square wave 255Miller Vintage mig30a spoolgunThermal Dynamics Pacmaster 100xl plasmaSmith mc torchEllis 1600 band saw

Reply:welderj; i'm sure you already know this but when stacking multiple angles on the horizontal band saw occasionally one jumps out and damages the blade. a vise grip or C clamp with a flat plate welded to the swivel and placed close to the cut helps. it only takes a second to ruin an expensive saw blade.i.u.o.e. # 15queens, ny and sunny fla
