Hey guys, name is Thomas and I've been browsing the forum for a few months before posting. I am in the market for my first torch rig. A friend of mine has a victor journeyman II kit new with edge regulators for 200$. What's yalls opinion on the edge regulators? Should i buy the kit or am I better off looking for a used set? And are the edge regulators rebuildable. Maybe OADOCTOR could give a opinion Thanks guysLast edited by coam21t; 09-25-2012 at 11:58 PM.
Reply:Nobody has a opinion on the edge regulators?
Reply:$200 in new condition sounds good to me, unless you can get a complete used setup with tanks for same money. You can always keep an eye out for some older style Victor regs at a good price."USMCPOP" First-born son: KIA Iraq 1/26/05Syncrowave 250 w/ Coolmate 3Dialarc 250, Idealarc 250SP-175 +Firepower TIG 160S (gave the TA 161 STL to the son)Lincwelder AC180C (1952)Victor & Smith O/A torchesMiller spot welder
Reply:Thanks man, yeah it's actually still in the box the guy bought it and said the torch was too big for him? My only concern is the edge regulators, I've searched here and a few other forums and came up blank.
Reply:Propaganda videos. They look pretty good to me."USMCPOP" First-born son: KIA Iraq 1/26/05Syncrowave 250 w/ Coolmate 3Dialarc 250, Idealarc 250SP-175 +Firepower TIG 160S (gave the TA 161 STL to the son)Lincwelder AC180C (1952)Victor & Smith O/A torchesMiller spot welder
Reply:Yeah they make them sound great. We will find out soon enough. They guy at the las says in four years of selling them they haven't had one come back. I'll keep my fingers crossed.
Reply:Buy it, it is worth over 400 and the edge regulators are new technolgy that make sense. Victor guranatess their product so feel safe.
Reply:Thanks a lot guys, I'll let y'all know what my uncle has to say about them after use. He has been using victor for 20 years and owns probably 5-6 full journeyman sets.
Reply:Hi Dude, just buy the stuff and give it a go, you won't know the difference between the best or the worst stuff anyway....LOL....., and for $200 you won't lose much if you decide to sell it on later at half the price for a "better" more professional outfit.Err........ make very sure you get a receipt for your purchase to ensure the item at bargain price is not a wee bit "hot"...LOL.......even best friends sell goods of unknown heritage for a friend they hardly know, and you could be left holding the baby.Ian. |
