Syncrwave 250 arc start problems

So my welding class has been temp moved from Rock Springs to Dalton,Ga... They have a 5-6 ( or less ) year old Syncro 250. The machine has been sitting idle until the recent opening of the welding class. The machine worked fine the first time I tried using it a couple weeks ago and for other students in the morning classes( mostly my G/F). I attempted to use it last night and I could not get the machine to start an arc using the foot pedal. I only get H/F. I can start the arc with panel amp control and scratch/lift arc...if I set it on panel amp control I can also start with H/F using pedal but the pedal has no amp control after the arc starts( basically like a finger start button). When I switch it from amp/ output it shows 2-t for second on the digital display, is it possible to change it to 4-t( which should be pedal control  ?? ) Is the foot pedal possibly bad??   I have tested every possible setting combination... with no luck ... Reply:How clean is the tungsten? I've seen HF start issues with contaminated tungstens at the tech school. The guy seriously fouls the tungsten, but doesn't grind all the fouling off. Usually the arc will start if they touch the tungsten to the work and mash the pedal, similar to lift start, but the arc won't always jump the gap. Usually cutting off the end and then repointing will solve the issue, that or a very heavy regrind..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Reply:That is something I was also thinking about as well... but I can light up with H/F using the pedal... but there is no control from the pedal after...I can literally take my foot off the pedal and still weld like scratch/lift start welding . Reply:DSW, I installed a brand new #20 CK torch before attempting to use it ... I also bring my own torch parts as well and I am anal about keeping everything clean...also new argon cylinder, water cooler full of coolent... Reply:It's hard to write this without it being confusing....there are 4 buttons on top left of machine1. stick or tig2. amp = panel or remote3.output= panel or lock or remote4.start= scratch or lift or hf start or hf contFirst time using machine setting were= tig, panel amp,output remote,and H/F start... machine worked exactly like it should. Now all I get is H/F.
