I've decided to do a little upgrading to my lincoln AC225 buzzbox.I went by my local tractor supply to look at their welding accessories plus I had a 10 dollar off coupon so I purchased a hobart 400 amp brass ground clamp to start the upgrade. It is sold by hobart but is made in china, what a disappointment,as you can see it has hobart nowhere but china is cast into the brass, but hey,had a 10 dollar off coupon so it went from $19.99 down to $9.99.I am going to take the welder all apart and clean it up and give it a fresh coat of paint.I've had this welder forever and it still works like a champ but hardly ever gets used but is always there when I need it for some serious amps. Will probably get a new stinger next.I will try and take some pics along the way..............doug Attached ImagesLast edited by dugndeep; 10-06-2010 at 10:41 PM.Reason: moreMaxus Pro-125 MigChicago Electric 90 amp DC flux-coreLincoln Electric AC 225 tombstoneO/A torchM/O mini-torch10 acres of flatland15 acres of holler
Reply:that is a nice ground clamp you got there.I've been thinking of grabbing an old ground cable from a car, stripping the wire, and looping it inside my cheapo clamp. I think it will make a big difference.
Reply:Taiden-I think it would too.I bought a lincoln ground clamp with the copper shunt and could tell a big difference compared to the original ground clamp on my chicago electric 90 amp flux core welder.Maxus Pro-125 MigChicago Electric 90 amp DC flux-coreLincoln Electric AC 225 tombstoneO/A torchM/O mini-torch10 acres of flatland15 acres of holler |
