I have seen a few different people adapt their chop saw onto the end of the welding/work table.  So decided to give that a try and add in an extension support arm with a stop for doing repeative cuts...Checkout my youtube channel:  http://www.youtube.com/turbocobra

Reply:Adding a cup or deflector to the back of the stand will help to direct and contain the grinding dust into a bucket of some sort so that you don't have a huge mess behind the saw, just a small one. These chop saws sure are messy, I try to use it outside only, but the ice cold winter is here so I try to use my 4x6 bandsaw as much as possible, it's quieter, too. Nice work on the table stand, you've got some good ideas designed into it. Cheers When a welder tells you to "stick it", what do they really mean?"In a time of universal deceit, telling the truth is a revolutionary act." - George Orwell

Reply:Nice video, design and nice shop.  I have a hinged, counter-weighted stop on one of my ironworkers.  As the part falls the stop tips down to allow clearance,  then he stop returns to its normal position after the part clears. For my bandsaw I added a fence to the opposite side of the blade, that stopped binding. Though, a fixed fence wouldn't work if the saw did not swivel. I just purchased one of those saws for 120 bucks, lightly used.  I haven't used a chop saw in 10 yrs. but had a need for one for a single job.  It is more impressive than I ever thought it would be.  Very heavy, however-- Much heavier than I recall my abrasive chop saw.
