i have a lincoln square wave 255. if i wanted to take my machine to a job what size generator would i need?thanks.
Reply:Figure out what amperage it's rated at? I use my bobcat 250 to run my 260 amp TIG and it handles it fine. Of course, there's very few times you will need to be welding full tilt. Just figure up the power (watts)= current(amps) x voltage

Reply:I have used a Lincoln MP 250, mig welder powered by a Miller T/blazer at school but machine wasn't turned up much...If you are really serious about being portable... you would need a pretty serious geny...or you could trade your Square wave for inverter or a engine driven welder...I'm sure that Square wave prob weighs about as much as mine...I wouldn't want to cart that thing in and out of my truck, and back forth to job sites...Lincoln pro mig 180Lincoln Square Wave Tig 300/wp 20/home built water cooler Victor, Purox, Harris, O/A welding/cutting setupsVintage Craftsman drill pressVintage Craftsman/Atlas 12"x 36'' lathe7''x 12'' w/c band saw Everlast 140 st |
