SA idler

How excactly does it work? I am refering to the electric type , as far as were and how does it get its input for reving up? what triggers it were is it read from and can the same principals be applied to an sae 400? Thank you all in advance.-Brian1997 SA 250

Reply:Perhaps I am not being clear this question is in refrence to how the system triggers not on how to adjust it. From my understanding it uses a voltage change to raise throttle . If someone who know's what they are talking about could chime in I would appreciate it vary much. Thank's-Brian1997 SA 250

Reply:How the pc board works to the best of my knowledgeWhen turning the switch off, the silenoid should diactivate as there no 12volts going to it and will makethe welder rpm go up.When turning the switch on,by putting 12 volt the silenoid will bring the welder to idle as the silenoid is activated and pulling the throttle back. Now if you start welding or start grinding thereed switch should make contact allowing the ground to go through and diactivate the silenoid, making thewelder rev up.When stopping welding or grinding, there should be a a few  seconds delay before the welder goes back to slow rpm until you start welding or grinding again, this delay is for when your changingyour welding rod in your holder and welding again,it will give you a chance to keep on welding with out the welder rpm going down,other wise the machine would go at high rev and slow rev all the time with out that delay.So the idler board is basicly control by a toggle switch for the 12 volts and 2 reed switch to get the ground,one reed switch is located on the copper strap for the ground that goes on your work piece and the other ison the pc board itself for when your using a dc tool(grinder ect..)., activating 2 transistor, diode, capacitors that turn everything on or off on the pc board cocomunk

Reply:Thank's too both of you. So if I am understanding this corectly the reed switch on the welding side read's the voltage increase across the ground and sends this back to the board then onto the solenoid to rev the engine up? Thank's-Brian1997 SA 250
Reply:No, the reed switch closes due to the magnetic field that results from current flowing thru the coiled copper strap of the welding work output lead.  Same goes for the reed switch on the board for the auxiliary power circuit.  Either closed switch completes a ground to the board control circuit which breaks the ground to the idle solenoid allowing the engine to increase to weld speed.MM200 w/Spoolmatic 1Syncrowave 180SDBobcat 225G Plus - LP/NGMUTT Suitcase WirefeederWC-1S/Spoolmatic 1HF-251D-1PakMaster 100XL '68 Red Face Code #6633 projectStar Jet 21-110Save Second Base!
