I forgot my acetone at home an after work I'm gonna try to weld on my aluminum canoe. After wire brushing it, will xylene clean it enough to make good welds? I has just gonna tack weld what I needed done Bc I don't want to warp it.Hobart Stickmate LX 235 ACEverlast Powerarc 140ST DC InverterPowcon 300ST
Reply:It should work okay, just a long flash time.
Reply:Depends what you want to clean. Xylene is an organic solvent good for oils and greases. It won't dissolve salts or oxides.http://www.thefabricator.com/article...before-welding

Reply:Xylene/Xylol: Wear gloves and don't breathe it, fairly nasty stuff but a good de-greaser.
