This is a spinner, for a cannonball bale bed.Used to stab a round bale. Like a rotisserie for a round bale.Farmer friend lost one of his off his truck. So I rummaged thru my metal pile and got all the metal rounded up and cut.Just a couple welders, big hammers, grinders, and torches.Work will free you.Men in dirty jeans built this country, while men in clean suits have destroyed it. Reply:That type bed is popular in cattle country. Always wanted to get a close look at how they work but never have stopped to look at one. You did a nice job on the build.Yeah, I know, but it'll be ok!Lincoln Square wave 255Miller Vintage mig30a spoolgunThermal Dynamics Pacmaster 100xl plasmaSmith mc torchEllis 1600 band saw

Reply:Ok stupid question time and a high jack.  Why would one want to unroll the bails? Looks like it would be a waste and create more expense.ECAVE Still learnin'Lincoln AC225Lincoln 135SPHF ChopsawVictor O/ANumerous other items
Reply:Came out very nice. The round welds are perfect, unlike mineYou should have noticed (not saying it's bad), that the round stock, and thick plate, soaked up a lot of heat when welding.  It's the reason the beads are a bit high.  I'd guess 1/8 rod at maybe 115ish amps, to maybe 125amps.  You could juice it up a bit, but actually you're in a situation where a bigger rod is nicer.  5/32 carries more amps, and will make for a hotter, flatter, weld.  As a general rule, I usually jump up from 1/8 to 5/32 when dealing with 3/8" and thicker plate.  Give it a shot, at around 150-175amps, and see how you like it compared to the smaller rods.Nice job"Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/
Reply:Never was crazy about unrolling bales, lot of waste when they scatter it, and crap all over it.  Using a feeder is best, but a lot of guys DO prefer to roll them out."Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/

Reply:Built in South Central Kansas. About a half dozen manufacturers building one brand or another. Deweze was one of the first. Notice the K-State Wildcat tags on the back of the stock trailers. Would cost a ton to ship one to AK from KS!
Reply:Thanks for the link,  gravel

Reply:I misspelled in the post above yours. It was meant to be "spoiled".Some people just spoil their cattle rotten, and that's how you waste hay.Not much snow around here anymore. It rained a "foot", melted a bunch of the snow, and has been around zero F* for the last 4 days.Just a couple welders, big hammers, grinders, and torches.Work will free you.Men in dirty jeans built this country, while men in clean suits have destroyed it.
