i need to bend 1" aluminum square tube, 1" aluminum flat bar, (on the 1" side), and 3/8" aluminum solid round stock. they are all about 3' long pieces with nice smooth radius. please refer me to a cheap, yet works worth a crap bender that will tackle this task. thank you, Joe
Reply:Is this for making those pods? I think someone posted a link in your other thread on how to make a powered bender from the HF setup and a pipe threader.. to bend the flat bar along its wide axis is going to be difficult to do cheaply.Tiger Sales: AHP Distributor www.tigersalesco.comAHP200x; AHP 160ST; MM350P, Spoolmatic 30A; Everlast PowerTig 185; Thermal Dynamics 60i plasma. Reply:I agree with DSW on 99% of his post, quality tooling is needed. I'm not a big fan on of HF tools, but there are some that will work just fine. The bender/roller I posted a link to is one of them (with modifications) If this was a full time gig for with 100+ units, then by all means squeeze the pig and buy a good roller. From what I've read your not even sure you have the job much less know what your gonna have into it T/M. Here's another link to the Modified HF roller by the guy who modded it. He sells dies for sq tubing and FB on edge. You can get set up for 500-700 with a few dies. From the looks of the bends it's a 3' to 5' approx. radius? so your rolling 6 to 10 foot circles.http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/shop-...er-review.html
Reply:Depending on the radius you want to end you may have some surprises coming when you bend them. Aluminum has a steep learning curve in both fabrication and welding. Get a Hossfeld or one of hte clones. They usually come with set of dies. I bought mine from http://americanbender.com/ He is a good guy, easy to work with, price is reasonable.

Reply:DSW makes a lot of good points. Since you seem pretty determined to go ahead with this, I would recommend you call Troy at SWAG Offroad and tell him what you want to do. If you can't get through to him, email him too. He has made rolling dies for square tube along with a variety of other things.Troy, Swag Off [email protected]
