Welding some galvanized hog panels to pipe frames, really a bunch of extended tacking more or less every 6 inches or so. I was thinking of picking up some 3/32 cheap 6010 hobart or store brand when in town today instead of using my Excalibur MR 7018 1/8 or Fleetweld 6010 5p++ 1/8. Think that would work better especially being smaller diameter for not burning through the hog panel?
Reply:6010/11 whichever is handy. 3/32 or 1/8 will do it.i.u.o.e. # 15queens, ny and sunny fla
Reply:I would guess 6010/11 if it's rusty.. I would also pick the size rod, that you feel most comfortable with. Best of luck -JessForney C5 Arc WelderLincoln Idealarc 250-250 Ac/Dc Arc WelderMiller Bobcat 225g PlusLincoln PowerMig 200Forney O/A Rig
Reply:yea on the 3/32 6010 IF DC and 6011 AC
Reply:If you use 7018 the metal should be clean.
Reply:I'd opt for 3/32" 6010 or 6011. Probably not enough of a difference between the two rods to make a big difference. I'd be tempted to use .030 Fluxcore wire in the mig as a better option. It can usually take medium rust like 6010/11 can, assuming you can get a good enough ground to get the wire to want to start. Once you get the 1st one lit, the rest until you have to move the ground should be good. I'd have more fine heat control with wire than I would stick on something that thin myself..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear. Reply:6010 or 6011 will work best. 1/8" would be my choice.
