I have a Chicago Electric 220v welder. I bought it after it sat for a while, the wire inside the door was rusted on the outside. Got new wire and went to go replace it... I can't get it out though. I've removed the gun tip but it doesn't budge. I'm using pliers and pulling it as hard as I can and it's not budging at all. I can still see the 1/4" of wire where it goes into the tube, so I know it's not broke off.Ideas? Thanks
Reply:Open the machine, open up the drive rolls, spool the wire back onto the old spool.

Reply:Remove the gun from the machine, and try to pull the wire out from the machine end of the gun.Don't be surprised if you have to replace the liner in the gun. Might be the best way to go anyway, especially if there is rust in the liner.Dont pay any attention to meIm just a hobbyist!CarlDynasty 300V350-Pro w/pulseSG Spool gun1937 IdealArc-300PowerArc 200ST3 SA-200sVantage 400
Reply:Is it possible that the welder was pulled from service because the wire was jammed? You are looking down the wrong end of needing to replace the liner. What does it take to verify that the power supply and drive system are intact before laying out the bucks?Be wary of The Numbers: Figures don't lie,. but liars can figure.Welders:2008 Lincoln 140 GMAW&FCAW2012 HF 165 'toy' GTAW&SMAW1970's Cobbled together O/A
Reply:The liner for you welder is too small for the electrode try a smaller electrode, and you may have to replace the liner
Reply:Yeah not real sure I understand what is stuck... But if theres rust its most likely in the liner also just loosen the set screws or whatever holds the liner in and pull the whole thing out Miller Dynasty 350Twenty Six HammersThree Crow BarsBig Rock
Reply:Take it apart(remove the gun from the machine), remove the liner from the gun assembly, and then take the liner and immerse it into a container of solvent, WD 40, or some other penetrating oil, let it soak and then try removing it. I'm pretty sure that you'll be able to dislodge and remove it. Good luck and best regards, Allanaevald
Reply:Remove the contact tip & gas diffuser, clip off the scab on the gun end of the wire and try pulling it out from the machine end. If that doesn't work locate the allen set screw holding in the gun liner and remove the whole thing.REAL TRUCKS DON'T HAVE SPARK PLUGS |
