I made this to hook around my bed.  I am able to put a tank in the bed of my truck and strap it in.  This holder keeps the tank from moving around in the bed. Attached Images
Reply:Do you also have a support on the floor of the bed?
Reply:Yes, I am going to weld a bar between the top and the bottom that has a matching play to hold the tank at the lower side. Sorry that doesn't make much sense until you see a picture.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Reply:What size tank?if its a big 280 or 336 I would have made that top bracket go higher up
Reply:I am only going to use it with a 4 foot cylinder, but that is a good idea for larger cylinders.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Reply:I wouldn't wanna see it go through that back glass. Show us the final result to have fun!
Reply:I finished fabricating.  All I have to do now is paint it.  It is dark out now so I wasn't able to take a picture of it on my truck.  I will post a picture of in on my truck when it is light out.
Reply:Here are some picture of it on my truck.
Reply:Are you bolting it to the truck? My name's not Jim....
Reply:No, the lip goes over the box and rest against the sidewall. When a tank is ratchet strapped in I do not think it will move. There is less than an 1/8 inch clearance between the slot where it overhangs the box.  It already is solid without anything holding it. The retched straps are going to go from one side of the box to the other.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Reply:To just transport them. I have always just laid them down in the bed (with the cap on of course) and cribbed them with bits of 2x4, chain, pieces of angle, old tires whatever is handy. If you cant fix it with a hammer, it must be an electrical problem."Boy, everyone starts with a full bag of luck and an empty bag of experience. The trick is to fill the bag of experience before the bag of luck is empty."-Grandad circa 1990ish
Reply:If you wrap it with 2 straps one halfway up the bottle and one towards the bottom I think you should be good. Show a pic on how it fits in there. 4 foot bottle should be a problem with that setupheres my setup.
Reply:That is a really interesting idea.  I really like it.  Do you just tighten a set screw against an inner shaft?
Reply:Ya there are 2 bolts. I push it against the bottle with my feet and then tighten it.
Reply:Br4denJYour device - and your rigging scheme - is inadequate to the point of being dangerous. If this is for transportion only [from your LWS] - construct a cradle [solidly blocked] and transport flat.I believe your 'design/transport' consideration is a  product of - reading too much - and experiencing/understanding, too little. In this age of 'heightened security/safety' - your device should be 'painted green' - and 'hidden in the grass'.OpuspsYou have also welded it to death . . ..Last edited by OPUS FERRO; 02-11-2015 at 12:41 AM.Reason: - ' - ' ' . . .
Reply:It's hurts me to say this, but I agree with what Opus said 100%.My name's not Jim....
Reply:As long as he just the straps right next to his fixture he should be fine. Testing will tell
