In a couple of months, I want to do some project demos for a class of decorative welders. In the decorative world, what I have done in the past are outdoor, large garden art things - big trellises, a sculpture built around a fabbed up jib crane, etc. What I need to do for this class are a couple of small things, sized to fit on a table or desk top, like insects, fanciful animals, etc. Stick welded. Ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.-Marty-
Reply:Horse shoe projects are always interesting. Coat hooks, napkin holders, wine bottle rack, there's a large list that have been done here in the past.Found art flowers using all sorts of things like valve wheels, tools, saw blades etc are another option.Vases for the flowers are another possibility..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear. Actually, a government bureau is the nearest thing to eternal life we'll ever see on this earth! Ronald Reagan

Reply:I agree with DSW on the horseshoes. I did a bunch of wine bottle holders, snowman , even a candle holder. Horseshoes are cheap around $2 to $3 each depending on your area. http://weldingweb.com/vbb/showthread.php...rojects-Sticky

Reply:Marty,Rusty junk metal can be had for free and interesting art pieces can be made. If you have to buy metal, rebar is really cheap from places like Lowes. 3/8" or 1/2" rebar is around $4.50 - $5.50 for a 10 foot stick.
