I work for a company that has Ln-7's sitting on top of older lincoln power units where I can adjust the voltage to very high settings. My question is that I have the Ln-7 wire feed maxed out .I have plenty of voltage to spare, and could put out more parts if I had more wire fed to me.How can I get more wire speed? Can I get a faster feed motor? Is it more adjustable than just the knob on the front?Do I need to upgrade from the LN-7....thanks for any input
Reply:What size wire are you using? I'm estimating the LN7 puts out around 750-800 inches per minute, if you are using .035 wire, and have the WFS maxed out, go up a diameter in wire, and drop your wire feed speed down, anybody that can handle wire feed speeds over 600 inches a minute (and the travel speed that goes with it) can benefit from a larger diameter wire.
Reply:thanks. that's a good idea.I didn't know if this machine could feed a larger wire through it.Yes I am using .035 wire now and will try .045
Reply:With the LN-7 manual listing a WFS of 50-500ipm, perhaps the larger wire is your best option.MM200 w/Spoolmatic 1Syncrowave 180SDBobcat 225G Plus - LP/NGMUTT Suitcase WirefeederWC-1S/Spoolmatic 1HF-251D-1PakMaster 100XL '68 Red Face Code #6633 projectStar Jet 21-110Save Second Base!

Reply:What wire are you running? When I use a wire I'm not familiar with, I usually go to the manufactures website to look up parameters. Innershield is usually between 150-250 ipm, with wire diameters up 1/16th, .072 and 5/64. Just because you can turn your heat up more doesnt mean you should. The only time I have ever wanted more wire speed was using an ln-25 with a lincoln cv-600. That was running dual-shield on three inch plate. But honestly, I was probably puting in too much heat as it was. Check your weld procedure specification (WPS) for heat input and travel speed.2011 Dodge 3500 diesel duallyLincoln SA-200Lincoln SAE-300LN-25'sLincoln Idealarc R3RMiller Trailblazer 302 |
