with an 80cube C25 bottle, slightly shorter CO2 bottle, two 10lb rolls of 023 wire still in boxes, three 2lb spools of wire(new still in wrappers) plus the machine had a 10lb roll in it. All for $450! Is this a good deal?

Reply:Played with it today, it has a 10lb roll of .030 in it, rethreaded the gun and tried it out. I plugged it into my 30 amp adapter on my 50 amp outlet. Set it according to the door chart for 1/4" steel, gapped the steel, tacked, then ripped down between them. It looked hot and flat but crooked. Bent it and saw that I was a little cold on one side. Welded it as the backside of a 90 joint. Let it cool a little then fillet welded the other side after turning the volts down a little. It seems like a hot running machine. Low hours as the wheels have no wear and the machine itself is very clean. I'll pick up a better ground "work" clamp this week as the battery cable clamp Miller supplies leaves a lot to be desired.Plus I scored this "welding table and vise" for FREE!
Reply:Thought I'd pass on to you, that due to how the unit is designed, changes to the voltage dial change the rate at which wire is being fed for the same wire speed dial setting. During the early portion of the production run, the spool hub tensioning spring was a little on the long side. This resulted in excessive spool hub tension when running 8" diameter spools on the unit. The excessive spool hub drag helped increase the potential for poppy arc start issues. Even with a shorter tensioning spring, the unit can be a little finicky in the area of arc starts. This is why Miller added the run-in circuitry to MM 180 that replaced the 175. For best performance in the area of arc starts make sure you try an keep a short stick out.ESAB Migmaster 250 Hobart Ironman 230Multimatic 215TWECO Fabricator 181i & 211iHH125EZ - nice little fluxcore only unitMaxstar 150 STH - very nice
Reply:I have one just like it about 13 yrs old now. Has always welded good w/ .023 wire and so far, doesn't owe me a dime.
