Hi freq not working, as ad says, rest of machine looks pretty clean. This is probably a 2-3 hr drive for me. Reply:Sounds like the same problem I recently had with mine(same machine). High frequency transformer $145, and I changed out one capaciter just to play it safe. Total cost was around $210 I believe. The labor I did myself, and the machine is running like new again. Minus a bunch of torches, that was the only problem I ever had with the unit. Great tough little machine. Reply:For $550 I might take a chance, but I wouldn't go much higher. I see them regularly in very nice shape with almost no hours going for $900-1000 and sometimes as low as $800. Not knowing the real problem, I'd want to go lower myself. I can see the repair quickly outpacing the value in this market if you are not careful.Personally I'd want to look at the machine hands on under power to make a decision. If you go to Millers site and download the manual, it will tell you the start up sequence that will pull up the run time and arc starts. I'd want to see how "used" the machine actually is myself. Also it lists in the back of the manual all the error codes the machine will display. That might also be a clue what an issue might be.The Syncrowave 180 is a nice machine. Max will be 1/8" alum with a bit to spare. It doesn't have the pulse feature the newer Sync 200's have standard, but it's no big deal. It's much smaller, about 1/2 the size, than the 3230/330's, but the output is less as well. The 320 is roughly the same as the Sync 250's to give you an idea. I learned on a Syncro 180 at the tech school and it held up well to the abuse the students in the day program put it thru..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size.
