Got two Onans today..will one work on my welder?

Ok..My original Onan on my Lincwelder 225 DC  3-AS is model: CCKA-S 1627 G ..The two Onans I got were both LP..but one has been converted to gas and that one runs- other is still lp, and is locked up (plugs out) My original CCKA needs pistons and bearings maybe more. But Crank is excellent. The Model of the newer Onans is: B48M GAO18 / 4107 A ..Do you know hp of these? and will a Crank from a CCKA work in a B48M? I may have just bought couple boat anchors? ( these newer ones were on Millers so differant taper than Lincoln)  Thanks- Gene
Reply:Geneare you dead set on running onans? I took my crank out of a blown eng and put it in one that was in a cub cadet with worn rings and pistons. I have about a days work and 150 bucks in mine. I use commands. The Onans are way to rich for me. Attached Images
Reply:Gene - The CCKA is 16.5hp and the B48M is 18hp.  Both have the same bore (3.25") but different strokes (CCKA: 3.0", B48M: 2.875").  That's not a mistake, the shorter stroke motor has the higher HP rating.  The crank from the Lincoln CCKA will fit the Miller B48M block but being of different strokes you would still need . . .. . . Reply:Vince..I am not set on onan- but just happen that I need the Lincoln taper so was looking for original make for welder..or something to get parts off. I'm seeing what you mean on 'pricey'. At this point I'll just keep what I got and when can swing it..buy Pistons for CCKA. I may sell the 18hp one too..not sure. This is a learning experience no doubt. Duane- thanks also, I'll contact TJ and tell him what I got. See what options I got.  Thanks Guys.  Gene  P.S. Too bad thy don't have a sheeve to change Lincoln taper to miller..or vise versa?

Reply:Thanks for the info Duane- I'm going to write TJ and see what he suggest. I think best to just put the two 18's away and buy pistons for the CCKA. The bores are nice and Crank is nice. I wouldn't gain nothing by swapping Crank's..as I'd still need CCKA pistons. I should state the 'second' motor of the two I recently got has no I.D tag...but is same size wise as the B48M. Did any Lincolns use the B48M? Maybe I'll get lucky and that one has right taper? One of the motors also is light green in color- It may be off a Genset?..So That taper is in question too..Only one of these two were on a Miller.  Gene

Reply:DuaneGood to know. We had a heck of a time finding what I was sposta have or have, cause neither of the engs had data plates. I had to go to Kohler school and I told the engineer what I was doing and he helped me with the look up on their web site. I didnt know they used a differant taper.
