I have no idea what these numbers mean. I figured some of you old timers could help me identify the markings on this plate. HT-013951SL-06632604SA 516 70 PVQMuch appreciated. -via MobileLast edited by Horns; 01-23-2015 at 06:21 PM.

Reply:SA 516-70 is the most common boiler plate. Usually it's normalized. Welds just like mild steel(7018) but can have a lot of mill scale. Cutting with a torch can be a PIA because the mill scale will pop off and hit you in the face. Your cut line disappears too. The HT is the heat number used to identify the batch. Not sure what the SL number or PVQ stands for but could be a serial number for the plate identifying the manufacturer. If you have some for a project, it's good steel.Last edited by Welder Dave; 01-23-2015 at 11:00 PM.
Reply:My guess on PVQ would be "Pressure Vessel Quality".
