Air compressor off engine drive

I have a Hobart champion 16 engine drive welder that I use a airarc k2000 on hers and there. I have always done it at my shop with my smaller air compressor and it works fine. But I'm setting up a welding trailer and is it OK to run that 110 compressor off my welder while using it for arc gouging or would I be better to run the compressor off my small generator?
Reply:Check the machine's manual. Many engine drives you don't get full aux power if you are "welding". So if you have the airarc up at say 75% of max, you'd only have something like 25% of the aux gen capacity left to run an air compressor. I know the Miller Bobcats are this way, and I believe the Hobart Champions are similar to the Bobcats other than they are CC only units.I know one of the big selling points of machines like the Trailblazer is that they have separate welder and generator systems, so you have both max weld and aux power available at any time..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Reply:Ok thanks, that's what I was thinking I would have to do.  Would like a gas powered compressor but that's just not in the cards rite now.

Reply:The rods I use are 5/32 they work good with my machine and compressor, but I don't use the setup alot.  60% of the work I do is fab and the other 40% is repair.
