So I'm looking at a couple feeders for an XMT350,I have a few questions of the two; a S74-D and and Pipe Pro DX.Was wondering if the Pipe Pro DX will even work with the XMT and still give me run in, burn back, pre/post flow, crater fill, etc...Do these feeders come out of the box new with all required wiring to setup to a power source and weld? 14pin remote cable, and a length of cable to make the gun lead hot from the powersource lug with a dinse or tweco connector? Or do I have to buy a 25' extension 14pin remote cable seperately along with a power cable to connect the feeder to power source? And I know 33lb spools work wonderfully but all I have at my disposal right now are 10-11lb spools of solid and flux, is my only option to re-spool or sell? Maybe some sort of an adapter I can make?TIAMiller XMT 350 CC/CVMiller S74-DHobart Airforce 500i
Reply:Just go with the 74 DX. I've had a few of them. They're very nice feeders, and come plug and play, less a gun and lead to connect the welder to it. You can pick a gun up on eBay for cheap and your weld supply will have lead and a Dinse connector for your XMT. The 70 series feeders come with a hard wired attached 10' cord with a 14 pin connection on the end of it. Connect to your XMT, set the output to remote and control everything from the wire feeder. It has four programmable schedules you can pre set for different voltages and feeds, no need to reset anything.I'm not 100% sure, but I think the pipe pro feeders are similar to the Axcess line and run on 42 volts instead of 24.As far as the wire spool goes, all you will need to do is cut a 2" long piece of 2" PVC pipe to act as a spacer between the hub retainer ring and wire spool. Adjust the drag on the spool hub via the 5/8" nut on the end of the axle just enough so the spool doesn't continue to spin when you stop welding.Should be about it.Oh, I deleted your other dupe thread. One is plentyLast edited by 7A749; 04-17-2016 at 10:15 AM.Expert Garage Hack....https://www.facebook.com/steven.webber.948
Reply:7A749You are the best! I really can't thank you enough. I'd been searching high and low for this info on the web all weekend. My search-fu must be weak. I ended up buying the 74D, not the DX (out of budget) and then splurged a bit on the new Bernard pipeworx gun. Looking forward to getting it all setup by the end of the week, will update when they arrive. Thanks again!Miller XMT 350 CC/CVMiller S74-DHobart Airforce 500i

Reply:Right on. Thank you both. I believe mine will have voltage control, but nice to know it can be added fairly cheap and easy. Ill see if i can find some 2" I can cut a slice from. Can't wait to get this thing hooked up and spitting wire!Miller XMT 350 CC/CVMiller S74-DHobart Airforce 500i
Reply:I still like the Hobart/Thermal arc spool  spacer over PVC. PVC to shim the gap though.. For steel work, I don't see the need for the other options of run-in/pre-post flow /burn-back with this feeder.. A power supply like you have, should be just fine out of the box.. Mine was.. I run a Lincoln gun with a Miller hook up kit. (Nice)I think the D model will prove to be the most reliable of all those feeders.. Reply:Ok so I got it all set up. One thing that is bothering me.The voltage display on the feeder will show .5-.6 volts HIGHER than what is displayed on the XMT.Is this normal? Usually the discrepancy is alot closer with the machines at school. Like .1-.2 volts Not sure what to make of it and which display I should trust in MIG mode..Miller XMT 350 CC/CVMiller S74-DHobart Airforce 500i

Reply:Dude u rock! I consider myself a fairly smart guy but when I didn't see a "calibration" or sync. procedure in the manual I kinda freaked. Miller really needs to do a better job documenting this kind of technical setup on their products.Miller XMT 350 CC/CVMiller S74-DHobart Airforce 500i
Reply:On the 60 series feeders, there's two different board connection configurations for inverter and non inverter type machines. Set the feeder up wrong and the remote voltage will be so far off you can't even use it.Glad this was a little easier than that Expert Garage Hack....https://www.facebook.com/steven.webber.948
Reply:It's actually referenced in the Troubleshooting chart rather than its own specific section.  MM200 w/Spoolmatic 1Syncrowave 180SDBobcat 225G Plus - LP/NGMUTT Suitcase WirefeederWC-1S/Spoolmatic 1HF-251D-1PakMaster 100XL '68 Red Face Code #6633 projectStar Jet 21-110Save Second Base!
