Here is something you can do with those old hard disks. make spinning, blooming onions out of them. I decided to share my idea. Mastering others is strength, mastering yourself is true power.
Reply:My brother just gave me 8 old hard drives. I'll have to try it. What did you use to slit the discs?"USMCPOP" First-born son: KIA Iraq 1/26/05Syncrowave 250 w/ Coolmate 3Dialarc 250, Idealarc 250SP-175 +Firepower TIG 160S (gave the TA 161 STL to the son)Lincwelder AC180C (1952)Victor & Smith O/A torchesMiller spot welder

Reply:I used a pair of Pro snip straight cutting aviation snips, they need to be sharp too, cause it's hard. Also get the magnets too, they are glued to the supports on top & bottom. put one on the bottom of the motor slap it on anything metal.Mastering others is strength, mastering yourself is true power.

Reply:I have a few magnets out of those big old full height SCSI drives. Talk about powerful! One of my former customers stuck a floppy disk on the side of his cubicle with a magnet. Labeled it "emergency boot disk", LOL."USMCPOP" First-born son: KIA Iraq 1/26/05Syncrowave 250 w/ Coolmate 3Dialarc 250, Idealarc 250SP-175 +Firepower TIG 160S (gave the TA 161 STL to the son)Lincwelder AC180C (1952)Victor & Smith O/A torchesMiller spot welder
Reply:Looks like somebody got a little carried away making sure nobody could recover any of their old porn. Neat idea! I worked at a computer store when I was a kid so I took a ton of these things apart. I made a wind chime with a handful of the platters once, and got a couple blood blisters over the years while playing with the magnets and having two of them snap together with a bit of skin between them.
Reply:Porn, what's that? LOL, actually I help a lot of my friends with their computers, so I wind up with a lot of computer scrap, I started taking them apart to get the magnets, which Oldendum stated are insanely strong for their size. I guess I got bored from spending a lot of time inside this week due to the snow. Anyway, I'm not an artist, but I know there are some very talented ones here, so I thought they might like this idea & will probably take it to a new level.Mastering others is strength, mastering yourself is true power.
