Hey everyone, new to the forum and new to welding. I've dabbled in welding a little bit in the past year and have enjoyed broadening my skills. I have picked up this old Lincoln 225 for free with the assumption it didn't work. After taking a look at it before I plugged it up, I opened the back and sure enough, wires not connected to anything! I have posted a few pictures and if any of you can tell me where these wires connect to, I would greatly appreciate it. Like I said, very novice to welding! Let me know if you need better pictures. Hoping to get this up and running this weekend but all depends on the feedback! Thanks Attached Images
Reply:the first pic is sideways and the close-up of the two black wires, the two fuzzy wires are the two not connected to anything. Here is another close-up of where the red wire is coming from. Where the red is going to didnt focus where I wanted it two but I'm sure with everything you should figure it out. Let me know if you need to see more. Thanks again! Attached Images

Reply:Your missing the fan motor. post the code number and PM me your e-mail.I send you the parts manual. You may have to call Lincoln and ask for a wiring diagram.you will have to give them the code number. You can get a operators manual from Lincolns web site. It will ask for the code number to get you the right manual.But I am afraid they wont help much.What will help the most is pictures of working machines. but they are a pain to take apart.You can go to Lincoln's web site and send the expert a request for a diagram and maybe pictures of one being assembled. I don't have any in the shop right now to take pictures of.
Reply:The red wire almost looks like it goes to a diode, but it seems too small to carry that much current. The aluminum finned things are heat sinks for diodes, but I don't see any diodes. How much farther are you capable of taking it apart? A schematic is definitely needed. |
