Reply:If the very large mig welding capacitor were disconnected it may work.Only problems I see is the tig arc welding voltage is very low (11v to 15v) even compared to short circuit mig transfer (usually above 18v) so as long as the mig welding machine isn't smart enough to fault out for low voltage then it may work. The OCVs may make starting an arc very difficult. Reply:it's your post...looks like the poster is hitting some sauce too...I wasnt being a dick...sometimes bad ideas turn out to be brilliant.  I don't see it here though. I would worry about overloading the duty cycle or worse on a dedicated mig, who knows how long the tungsten will last and what kind of penetration is possible??  please run it for a while and post your results. Reply:I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work.The OCV would just be a little less than ideal.
