Tig welding 6061 with a diversion 165. Most of the time I get a pretty good bead these days (at least on clean straight joints), but sometimes the bead ends up silvery and rough/porous looking. Does that mean I'm over-heating it? Going too slow? My welder hates me?
Reply:Switch to 5356 filler.Your using 4043?That's my best guess without seeing pics of the welds.Just a couple welders, big hammers, grinders, and torches.Work will free you.Men in dirty jeans built this country, while men in clean suits have destroyed it. Trump/Carson 2016-2024
Reply:I get that somtimes too. I think going slow is a good theory. I use 5356 most of the time. What size cup and how much cfh are you using? I started carbide burring AL to clean it. Usually acetone first
