Noob here. I see spray transfer mentioned in regards to mig welding. Is this a setting on the welder, or something that results in modification of settings? Is it better than something else?
Reply:All you need is a welding machine that produces enough volts, and the correct gas. Dont pay any attention to meIm just a hobbyist!CarlDynasty 300V350-Pro w/pulseSG Spool gun1937 IdealArc-300PowerArc 200ST3 SA-200sVantage 400

Reply:That new MM 252 you have coming, offers the necessary voltage and amperage to produce a spray arc with an .030 or .035 solid wire that the average hobbyist is going to run. Of course you'll need a bottle of 98/2 oxy or 90/10 CO2, along with a bottle of C25 for short arc.I've attached 4 spray arc bead pics. The first one was produced with a MM 251. The second with an ESAB Migmaster 250. The third with a MM 210. And the last one was with a Hobart Ironman 230. Reply:Plus with Spray it pays to have the contact tip slightly proud of the shroud
Reply:Thats pretty cool. Is it something i should invest in another bottle for eventually? Ive got pure argon, and 75 25 currently. My current project has me working with .190 and some misc parts .25. Typically all my work and repairs will hover around .190.
Reply:You don't need spray for that thin of metal.Stick with 75/25 and short arc.IMO.Just a couple welders, big hammers, grinders, and torches.Work will free you.Men in dirty jeans built this country, while men in clean suits have destroyed it. Trump/Carson 2016-2024

Reply:For home hobbyist usage 75/25 is all you really need for mild steel, especially on 3/16" thick material. This doesn't mean I am giving up my bottle of 90/10 though. That MM 252 will have no trouble being able to produce sound welds on 1/2" material with 75/25. The determining factors on this of course would be that you have the machine output set hot enough, and that your skill level is adequate enough to produce the correct resultsESAB Migmaster 250 Hobart Ironman 230Multimatic 215TWECO Fabricator 181i & 211iHH125EZ - nice little fluxcore only unitMaxstar 150 STH - very nice |
