I have a chance to get a commander 300, but it wont weld... It does have power at the 110 and 220 outputs, but just wont weld... Any ideas on what might be wrong with it?ThanksHarmon
Reply:It probably needs a main board. Which I think are $800 from lincoln. They are unrepairable. Takes about 15 mins to change one out.Lincoln 300 Vantage 2008300 Commander 1999SA250 1999SA200 1968Miller Syncrowave 200XMT350MPA/S-52E/xr-15Xtreme 12vs Millermatic 251 w/30A Millermatic 251 Dialarc 250 Hypertherm 1250 GEKA & Bantom Ironwokers
Reply:Before you buy a expensive PCB There are a lot of checks you need to do.First Check your contactor control switch make sure it works. (terminals always on).Make sure current is in panel (local) control and not it remote.Next you will have to go inside the welder and look for burnt and open weld conductors.Does the welder go to both high and low idle? What is your level of experience with electricity and electronics. This is a complicated welder and just throwing parts at it may not fix it and will get real costly. To answer you question directly, could be a switch in the wrong position.Could be a open diode, broken weld conductor. open stator $$$$.Unless they will let you poke around inside and check a whole bunch of things, walk away. |
